Before going ahead with a full production run, it’s important to complete a small-scale prototype, proof-of-concept run.
This important step can save both time and money and allows for important customer feedback before finalising the design. 3D printing allows for cost effective trials to determine fit and function of different enclosures and housings before committing to expensive tooling.
Prototyping also allows for extensive field testing and beta trails of new product designs. Run properly, and by carefully evaluating all of the data, the time to market can be shortened, whilst ensuring that the product meets or exceeds the original design specification.
